The bio...

KYRA LYNN KOZLENKO is a former NYC based actor/singer who recently relocated back to her beloved hometown in Marin County, California. Kyra is a proud member of the Actor's Equity Association, a classically trained singer, and a NYU graduate (Tisch/CAP 21).

Growing up right outside of beautiful San Francisco (land of rolling hills, sparkling waters, and giant redwoods), Kyra developed a deep love of nature and spent much of her free time exploring the wild corners of Northern California. Kyra developed an even deeper love for music and theater and dreamed of one day performing on the Great White Way!

Kyra followed her dreams all the way to NYC where she received a BFA in Musical Theatre at the prestigious NYU/Tisch School of the Arts and fell hopelessly in love with the Big Bad Apple.

Over the years, Kyra has been performing nonstop: From regional stages to well-known cabaret venues, jazz clubs, and even had a long run as a singing server (alongside some of Broadway's best and brightest talents) at the famous Ellen's Stardust Diner in the heart of NYC's theatre district.

Recent theater credits include: "A Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder" (Sibella) with Davis Shakespeare Festival, "110 In The Shade" (Snookie Updegraff /**nominated for a SFBATCCA- best supporting actress) with San Francisco's celebrated 42nd Street Moon, "South Pacific" with The Peninsula Symphony and 42nd St. Moon, the world premiere of the original rock musical "Blast From The Past" (Suzie) at Charleston, SC's famous Spoleto Festival, and the TheatreworksUSA NYC/National Tour of "Narnia" (Lucy). Over the years, Kyra has also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with celebrated artists such as Clive Davis, Wyclef Jean, Alec Baldwin, and Anna Deavere Smith!

Kyra currently works (alongside fellow actors) as a simulation specialist at Murison where she puppeteers and voices digital avatars in immersive VR training simulations. Here, Kyra exercises her skills in role-play, character work, and empathetic listening; giving learners the opportunity to practice difficult and high stakes conversations and helping them build essential skills in leadership, conflict management, and empathy.

After a long and exciting run in NYC, Kyra is happy to be back in beautiful California-- The redwoods were calling her home! She is grateful to be reunited with family (who share her love for the creative/performing arts) and is looking forward to new adventures and new possibilities!

LET'S GET PERSONAL!

My Identity as An Artist:

In the spirit of open and authentic communication, I would love to get a bit personal and share with you some of the challenges and values that contribute to my identity as an artist:

Many people I cross paths with do not know that I am a person with low vision and am legally blind in certain conditions such as dark or low lit settings. This is a stable, documented, and lifelong visual disability. That being said, I am very used to working around any challenges that may arise in my professional life as a performer, as these challenges often have easy solutions.

I love people, creative expression, collaboration, and community. I am a quiet and friendly soul who is creative, detail oriented, empathetic, responsible, and deeply passionate about equity, equality, inclusion, and creating positive change.

I believe that art will always be our most powerful tool of change and that a true artist has the great responsibility and privilege to speak human truth, to bring forth empathy, and to inspire change.

I feel very proud and very lucky to work amongst the storytellers— the spreaders of light, imagination, compassion, and truth. Nothing brings me more joy than collaborating with a group of fellow artists, and together, bringing the beauty and magic of theater to others; it is a great honor and privilege that I do not take lightly.
